About Sam Hackney

Who you are booking

I am Sam Hackney, a singer and acoustic guitarist from Stoke-on-Trent. I play live most weekends: pubs and social clubs across the Potteries, Newcastle-under-Lyme and the towns around them, with weddings, private parties and festivals in between. Everything I know about playing a room I learned in those rooms, in front of people who had not come to see me and stayed anyway.

The set runs from the 60s to now, three hundred and something songs deep, with a handful of my own. I read the crowd in front of me and build the night from there, which is why landlords rebook and why couples who want a proper evening party rather than a polite one tend to find me.

Rooms I play

A few of the regular and recent ones, all in the public gig diary when they come round:

• Hog Noggins, Burslem
• Goldenhill Club, Goldenhill
• Travellers Rest, Goldenhill
• The Masons Arms, Knutton
• Moreville Hall Hotel, Werrington
• Privilege Bar, Uttoxeter
• Joiners Arms, Market Drayton
• William Chesters, Market Drayton
• The Sound of Coffee, Longton

The practical bit

• Own PA and lighting, PAT-tested, sized for a back room or a marquee.
• Public liability insurance, certificate available for venues.
• Based in Stoke-on-Trent, covering Staffordshire, Cheshire and Shropshire as standard, Derbyshire and further by arrangement.
• Booked direct. No agency, no commission, one person to talk to from enquiry to the last song.

Not the other Sam Hackney

If you have searched my name and found a country singer in America, that is a different Sam Hackney. This one is in Staffordshire with an acoustic guitar. The Instagram is @s.hackney_ and the Facebook page is Sam Hackney, where most of the live clips and gig posts go up.
